The IEC Decade Resistance Box is a classic instrument in the electrical lab. Resistance is dialled up in decades and a pair of 4mm spin free IEC terminals allows a low resistance connection. An earth terminal is fitted also to the housing. There is a large range of 3 dial, 4dial, 5dial and 6 dial boxes covering many ranges. The value of each resistor is calibrated to better than 1% accuracy, with the exception of the 0.1 steps which are within 5%. Each step can dissipate 1 watt of heat.
Compact and robust design for both industrial and student use.
Anodised aluminium dust resistant enclosure with earthing terminal. 4mm spin free captive socket head terminals for use with wires or banana plugs.
Internal connections are by printed circuit board for better reliability.
Each dial provides 10 steps of resistance so that the values are selected in complete decades.
ACCURACY: Better than 1% of dialled reading (above 1 ohm). Resistors used are non inductive and high stability. Note: 0.1 ohm decade accuracy is 5% of dialled value.
POWER: Each resistor has a power dissipation of 1 watt.
CURRENT: The current for each decade is limited by the wattage dissipation per resistor.
RATINGS: 1 ohm steps 1.0 amp 10 ohm steps: 0.3 amp 100 ohm steps: 0.1 amp 1,000 ohm steps: 0.03 amp 10,000 ohm steps: 0.01 amp
NOTE: Maximum current for 0.1 ohm steps is about 2 amps to prevent damage to the internal switch contacts.
