The apparatus consists of two aluminium plates connected via a switch to two terminals to which a voltmeter is plugged in. The two jars are filled with water, one hot one cold. When turned on a voltage will be shown, the value of which depends on the difference in temperature. Reading may also be taken as the temperature is increased.
